In April 2022, Americas Tailings was selected by mining major BHP as one of the final two participants to advance to the Pilot Under Controlled Environment (PUCE) stage under a global initiative called the “BHP Tailings Challenge” to promote innovative solutions for repurposing copper tailings.
Americas Tailing will conduct the PUCE work programs to advance investigation of the potential to transform tailings from one of BHP’s copper mines into a bio-mineral fertilizer. Planned work will include conducting pilot plant and laboratory test work, growth tests, process and equipment design, and market studies.
